The acting district police commander for Gulu Central Police station Joseph Ayiki was shot yesterday by an Exposs Security Guard.
The incident happened at around 3:00 a.m from TAKS centre recreation centre in Laroo division next to Acholi Inn limited guest house.
The security guard has been identified as David Olanya, 28 years old, resident of Keyo in Amuru district. He was guarding the recreation centre by the time of the incident.
The Aswa river region police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the incidence; he says the DPC sustained injuries on his right leg and has been admitted at Gulu regional referral hospital (GRRH) for medical attention.
According to Okema circumstances under which the incidence occurred is still unclear but investigation has commenced and the suspect has been arrested and detained at Gulu central police station.
A medical personnel at the health facility that preferred anonymity says the DPC has been taken for X-ray scan and his condition is still undetermined.
David Odwar the director of TAKS centre says he is unaware of what took place, according to Odwar the centre was closed at 10:00 p.m and he cannot explain what took place beyond that time.
Foot marks and blood stains at the crime scene show pool of blood outside the main entrance into the premise.
