The national army has named civilians who were shot and killed by a UPDF soldier last evening in Gulu town.
Kelly Komakech, Pece Division Chairman, told Uganda Radio Network [URN] the suspect as Corporal Geoffrey Okello, a resident of the same area, is currently on the run.
His victims are; Beatrice Ajok, 52, and her two sons; Owen Norman aged 20 and a Senior Six student of St. Pope John Paul II SS, Dan Joakim Binyang, 18.
Also shot is an eight-year-old child, Peace Apwoyorwot, who is admitted at St. May’s Hospital Lacor.
The incident happened on Monday evening in Vanguard sub ward, Vanguard Parish, Pece Division in Gulu Municipality.
Okello had misunderstanding with the family of Ajok whom he accused of grazing her goats on his land.
Maj. Ceasar Olweny, UPDF 4th Division spokesperson, said the incident happened near Pentecostal Assembly Of God (PaG) church.
In 2015, Lance Corporal Kennedy Okumu, 40, attached to the 29th Battalion was sentenced by UPDF 4th Division Court Martial to 45 years in prison for shooting dead a barmaid over 1,000 Shillings.
In 2018, Lance Corporal Geoffrey Odaga shot dead three people at a local bar in Kabedo-Opong trading centre in Bardege Division.
He was tracked down, arrested and later court-martialed to 40 years in prison.
