Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth broke the YouTube record for the most streamed video on the video on the platform.
The video “See You Again” from the Fast 7 soundtrack received almost 3 billion views making it the most views for a single video in YouTube’s history. The title was previously held by PSY’s “Gangnam” style which at the time of his publication has 2,895,111,556 views. Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s song “See You Again” has 2,897,632,968 views at the time this story was posted.
The single “See You Again” is very catchy but the video didn’t have the same viral hit sensation as PSY’s “Gangnam” style. What drove “See You Again” was the fact that it was a soundtrack for the life of the late Paul Walker who death was a shocker to the massive Fast and Furious fan base. Wiz and Charlie Puth did a very good job putting this song together to closely match the theme of the Fast 7 movie.
At the rate of how videos are being watched it 2017, Wiz Khalifa may not hold the record for too long. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee song “Despacito” already racked up 2.5 billion views and was only uploaded five months ago. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” have all surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube.
